Samitier is located on the road A-138, which goes to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, to France through the tunnel of Bielsa Aragnouet and to other important places of the Central Pyrenees.

From Samitier we can also visit some of the most important romanesque monuments in the Pyrenees: The Castles of Samitier and the Tower-Castle of Abizanda. The visit to The Castles is a pleasant trip from the Abbey House. Samitier is next to the reservoirs of El Grado and Mediano where several aquatic sports can be practiced.

Its situation is strategic to get to the most important protected areas in the Pyrenees:

- National park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido.
- Park of the Sierra and the Canyons of Guara.
- Park of Posets-Maladeta.
